Time to uncork a few fancy bottles of champagne, cause we’ve got all reason to celebrate! The results of the annual Sony inthemix DJ Poll are in and feature both tyDi and Armin van Buuren on top. With about 33,000 votes, the poll was bigger than ever before, showing the Australian clubbing scene is healthier than ever.
Australia has clearly fallen for trance music, cause we find our 22 year old DJ/producer tyDi on top, making him Australia’s number one DJ for the second year running! Not one to let age stand in the way of success, tyDi has had a manic 12 months. Kicking off the year with a set at Australia’s first Sensation on NYE, tyDi has also kept busy touring with the big boys, including Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. But his list of achievements goes on. 2009 saw the Queenslander receive an invitation to play the Mainstage at Trance Energy in Holland. Proving his skills are not merely confined to the dj’ing arena, 2009 was also the year tyDi released his eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Look Closer’ and several hot tracks, such as ‘Is It Cold’ and ‘Somehow’.
But trance triumphed in more than one list. As most voted International DJ, we find Armin van Buuren, who’s been paying the Australian land a few memorable visits. Not only with his very own Armin Only nights, but also rocking the crowds at several festivals in Melbourne and Brisbane. The Ozzies surely know their favourites!
