Our president Raymond van Vliet has been elected on the Supervisory Board of Buma/Stemra, during the general meeting yesterday. Raymond used to be member of the Board which held 12 members. In the new set-up only 2 publisher, 4 Authors and 2 independent members will join the supervisory Board. Raymond will be accompanied, from a publishing point of view, by Niels Walboomers, the CEO of SONY/ATV.
Buma/Stemra represents two bodies: Vereniging Buma and Stichting Stemra. Each of these bodies has its own Articles of Association, Rules and Board. They also have separate functions: Vereniging Buma looks after the concerns of rightholders in the field of musical performing rights. Stichting Stemra looks after their interests where mechanical reproduction rights are involved. Buma/Stemra has a single management organisation and, for the sake of efficiency, the Boards of Buma and Stemra meet at the same time.
The Board is responsible for the management of Buma/Stemra. The role is to supervise the Management and the general affairs within Buma/Stemra. The Board has 12 members. The Board designs a profile sketch for the composition of the Board. It takes representativeness of various genres into account. The members appoint a thirteenth independent person. The composition of the current Board is listed here.
