“HEBE isn’t ashamed of expressing her emotion.” – MUSIC WEEK

“… she straddles the line between the uplifting and the melancholy.” – EARMILK

Born and raised in Amsterdam into a family of artists, HEBE’s father is a film and documentary director, her mother is a theater designer and teacher at The Rietveld Academy and her brother is a visual and light designer, helped pave the way for her career in music.

“In my music I try to connect different facets of my personality. I can be open, but also introvert; I know what I want, but I can also suffocate in doubt. I am looking, as everyone else I believe, for balance and music is my instrument to do so.”

After graduating from the Conservatory of Amsterdam (2014), 22-year-old Hebe Vrijhof released her 6-track debut EP, The Beginning which allowed HEBE to show the world a personal profile of herself. This debut EP The Beginning (2015) and her second EP Tell Me (2017) gained attention by premiering through The 405, Noisey (Vice) and Keep it Underground and have collectively racked up over a million streams on Spotify.

Her EP Tell Me lead her to play at Dutch TV show Vrije Geluiden, Radio 2, Tivoli Vredenburg Utrecht, Patronaat Haarlem, Sugar Factory Amsterdam and Theatre Festival De Parade. After being invited twice to perform solo in London at Metropolis Studios in august 2017 and Camden Assembly april 2018, HEBE returned for two UK tours (November 2017 and June 2018) and a Germany tour (May 2018) with her band.

Since 2019 HEBE has been in the studio to co-produce her new EP Cards on the table, set for release in autumn 2020, with Huub Reijnders, Martijn Bosman and Ruben Hein. Stating contemporaries James Blake, BANKS and Bon Iver, as well as iconic songwriters Paul Simon and Van Morrison as influences, HEBE employs a wide range of tones in order to find the balance between the melancholy and power in her tracks
