Absent Minded

Jeroen van Woezik is the composer/writer and singer of Absent Minded who signed their record deal with V2 in February. Absent Minded is part of “Kweekvijver” a new program on TMF where they support new acts. In April there first single will be released with a massive video!

When Matthijs and Coen van Vliet decided a couple of years ago to start a band, they asked other musicians at their music-school if anybody would be interested to play in a band. That’s when Aldo Massaro stepped in. Jeroen van Woezik, who attended the same music-school, joined the band a few years later to become the second guitarist and singer. The four guys had a similar interest in music and so they started to play rock music. In 2005 Michel Tol took over drums from Aldo.

Absent Minded was officially formed in april 1998. They played their first gig in may 1999 at ‘Het Stedelijk Gymnasium’ in Leiden during a contest. AM ended up as the winner of The Battle of the Bands. The first price contained ten hours of recording in The Art of Sound Studio in Leiden, and so they were able to record their first demo.

This demo opened many doors and AM was suddenly doing gigs in small venues all over Holland. Between their busy schedules the band still had time to write songs and ultimately AM ended up with enough material to record another four demo’s. Due to their succesfull demo they were able to play in the two most important clubs in Amsterdam. AM had the honour to be support-act of two succesful American bands (‘Our Lady Peace’ and ‘Lit’) at ‘De Melkweg’ and played with ‘Di-rect’ in ‘Paradiso’.

Absent Minded signed in january 2001 a record-deal with Van Records in The Hague, but both parties decided in november 2002 it was better to go separate ways. In 2005 they had their first single out “Without you” but 2006 will be there year!
