Intwine
Cloud 9 represents three of the of the five members of the Dutch Rock band INTWINE; Rocheteau Mahuwallan (drums), Jon Symons (guitar) and Edsel Eusebius (bass). Intwine was formed in 2002 when the original five members met at the Fonty’s Rockacademy of Tilburg. The band combined latin, reggae and hiphop with Pearl Jam and Creed influences; a successful combination, as in 2003 their first single, “Happy?”, was a huge hit in Belgium and in the Netherlands, where it reached number 3 in the charts. Their debut album was a success reaching a top 20 position in the charts and the band were also nominated for the TMF Awards and for an Edison Award.
In 2004 the band released their second album “Perfect”, which was awarded the “3FM award” for best album. The album included the top ten hit, “Cruel Man”; the title song for the Dutch film “The Preacher”. Intwine were gaining international success and attention with “Cruel Man”reaching number 1 in Turkey.
In 2005, Jon Symons and Rocheteau Mahuwallan joined the band; in the same year, Intwine were nominated again for an Edison Award. A highlight of 2005 was an Intwine performance at the Pinkpop Festival, which according to the Guiness Book of Records, is the oldest annual festival in the world. In 2006 the band released their third album called “Pyrric Victory”; the influence of the two new band members could clearly be seen on this album as there was no longer a carribean influence but it was pure rock with electronic influences. In 2006, the band also wrote the title song “Feel It” for the film “Nachrit”; the track “For Goodness sake” also featured in the film. In November 2007, Intwine released a new single “The Chosen”, which is co-produced with Brainpower and is the official soundtrack for the new game Assassin’s Creed in the Benelux.
In 2007 Intwine decided that for three months they would not do large rock concerts, instead they played everything acoustic and in theatres; this was a large success and attracted a different crowd from the ordinary rock concerts.
Intwine have continued to impress in 2008 with the release of “Cut Me Loose” and “Solo”.
