Özgür Can
Özgür Can was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1982 and grew up in a family where music was present at all times; ever since then a large part of his life has evolved around beats, tones and grooves of all shapes. His interest for sounds, tones and beats developed during the years as he spent his time listening to everything from trance, house and techno to pop, hip hop and alternative music.
His wide musical background is also clearly reflected in his current sound; he has an open mind and is not afraid to cross boundaries and take new paths. His unique and diverse style has resulted in releases on labels such as Precinct, Armada, Electronic Elements, Lost Language, Plastica Red and Cpr; it has also gained him fans such as Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, James Holden, Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, Markus Schulz, Max Graham and many more. His open-mindedness gives him the freedom to fit into different kinds of events, whether he’s warming up for Armin van Buuren on a big Armada night or being a headliner on a exclusive progressive night.
In 2005, Özgür and Stian Klo started their own record label called Furry Music; the title of Özgür’s first vinyl release on this label, “Just Go With It” again displays his musical diversity “we don’t want to be pushed in the corner with one sound. We’re going to be releasing all kinds of stuff that we’re really into.” Further releases on this label include “Another Kind”, “Forbidden Romance”, “Tender Black”and Ëscape.”
An indication of his success is that he was approached by Anjuna Beats to find new tracks for their new progressive trance label.
2008 startedly brightly for Özgür who has toured in Sweden, Ireland, Romania and the Netherlands. Recent releases include “Melodic Beat”, “Swell and “The Distance”.
From being one of many bedroom producers, Özgür has now turned into one of the biggest talents hailing from the Swedish progressive scene, both as a DJ and a producer!
