Ferro

Ferro’s sound comes caked in vintage dust, sounding as though his beats have been maturing in a drawer before being unleashed on the world. They are percussive but also organic, warm and inviting. It is Ferro’s lasting goal to make all of his music using genuine hardware and fully analogue tools.

With pure enthusiasm and a huge devotion to all the music he plays and produces, Ferro has made a big artistic step these past two years. For those who have kept track of him since the beginning, Ferro’s growth as an artist has always been evident.

It was the philosophy of the way jazz is played, the emotion of classical music and the love for science fiction that defined the start of Ferro’s musical career in his teens. Now, years later, his influences come from many different places, as you can hear in his sets and also in his productions that always sound fresh but dreamy at the same time.

His inspiration comes from the balance of good and evil forces in this world, or as he likes to put it himself; the light and dark sides to everything, one cannot do without the other. Although this vision has always been his, Ferro has been consciously putting this ethic into his sets and productions this past year. Through spiritual experiences and meditation Ferro has gotten to this point in his career.

Fairly young still, but definitely not new to the game, Ferro is clearly walking his own path. He is the frontman and A&R of VBX, an Amsterdam-based record label that also hosts its own events. Aside from this, he performs across the globe at events like HYTE, Kiesgrube, Unusual Suspects and FUSE London, for whom he plays on a regular basis.

Production-wise Ferro hasn’t been standing still either. These past years he has released on imprints as Fasten, FUSE, Oscillat, Slapfunk, Lessizmore, Infuse & VBX. More recently he has had Enzo Siragusa and house legend DJ sneak remix his work. He was also the secret force behind the Ijzeren Rots record released on Digwah, which has receiving plays by legends such as Ricardo Villalobos and Sonja Moonear. Besides having an impressive portfolio of productions on his own account, he has also been performing and putting out music together with Reiss as Spokenn, which is also linked to the VBX family.

His devotion and unique and diverse approach to music and life have made Ferro a figure to watch in the last couple of years, and there is no sign of slowing down for 2020.
